To Be A Bondservant

Jesus started by addressing the issue of offense. And He further emphasized the importance of not offending the little ones. Whilst we cannot escape from being offended, there is something we must learn to do – to rebuke and to forgive. The purpose of rebuking is to bring restoration and reconciliation. The apostles understood the necessity of faith to forgive but Jesus clarified that it is not the quantity but the quality of faith. The parable of the servant was not a change of topic but Jesus revealed how do we exercise faith, namely obedience as exemplified by the servants. How could the servants do what they did in the parable? This is a different level of relationship that Jesus is describing. It is an invitation to enter into a bond-servant relationship with our God. Jesus, Himself took on the role of a bond-servant when He came to this earth two thousand years ago. What is your response to the invitation to be His bond-servant?
