Set Apart to be Gold

Silver, Gold and Clothings were bridal gifts given by Abraham’s servant to Rebekah. Gold which speaks of God’s divine nature and holiness, when given to the bride shows an expectation that the bride is to have the same qualities as the Bridegroom. The Christ-like call is emphasized in the bridal call. Further, the account in Ezekiel also tells us that God’s desire is for the bride to be exceedingly beautiful. The bride of Christ is attractive to the world. She is so different from the world that there is an attractiveness in her. A bride that responds to this bridal wooing, will devote herself wholly to the Bridegroom. This speaks of the sanctification process, where she sets herself apart to be holy. To have an understanding of how God works through the sanctification process, we need to have a balanced biblical understanding of the condition of the human heart. Further, it is necessary to be armed with the understanding of the testings and the discipline that are initiatives of God.
