We are tri-partite beings – do we see ourselves as mere human beings or are we spirit beings? When Adam and Eve fell, their spirits began to die. Because of sin, our souls have now become dominant in our lives. The original intention of God is for our spirits to rule over our souls and bodies. When we received Christ as our Lord and Saviour, our spirits became alive and are joined with the Spirit of God. If we live on the soulish plane, we are susceptible to the ever-fluctuating emotions and changing circumstances in our lives. We become very vulnerable to both internal and external stimuli that cause us to “lose” the reality of Christ as our Magnificent Obsession in our lives. In this parable, Jesus clearly teaches us the need to live from our spirits. We are instructed that life is not just about preservation of our bodies and souls. Our spirits are greater than our souls and bodies. The very basis and foundation of learning to live as spirit beings is the revelation of the heart of the Father as reiterated by Jesus Himself. Our worth in the eyes of the Father and the Father’s heart to give us the kingdom should be the basis of our pursuit after living from the spirit. Five words that can help us in this “spiritual” journey are – 1. Appetite; 2. Attraction; 3. Addiction; 4. Attention; and 5. Awareness
