In Romans 8:14, as we review the subject of being led by the Spirit of God, we appreciate another facet of the context, i.e. the truth is being revealed in the context of a relationship. Being led by the Holy Spirit is a matter of relationship and not so much of subscribing to any formulaes or steps, etc. The goal of the leading of the Holy Spirit is to ultimately give us “an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). Hence, it is imperative for us to know Who is the One leading us. The Holy Spirit sheds abroad the love of God in our hearts and if we are to be led by Him, we have to align ourselves with the Love of God. Secondly, the Spirit of God is known as the Spirit of Truth or rather, the Spirit of “Reality”. In our lives, it is always a crisis of “our realities” against “God’s realities”. Lastly, we looked at the choice of word for “led” which paints a beautiful picture of both a surrender and a partnership with the One Who has started a good work in us and Who works in us and through us.
