Gold, in the Bible speaks of God’s divinity and His holiness. Isaiah’s experience in Isaiah 6 was a testimony of his personal encounter with the holiness of God. He marked his encounter by making reference to the year which King Uzziah died. There is an important hidden principle in this reference. In the context of Isaiah’s encounter, pride has to die first before we could encounter God. We read in the New Testament that without holiness, we cannot see God. The description of the seraphims also teaches us that true worship arises when one catches a glimpse of God. How important therefore for us to seek to catch a glimpse of God in our quiet time daily. From the perspective of heaven, everything is so different. As multi-dimensional beings, we are seated in the heavenly realm and we should view things in this world from a heavenly perspective – the whole earth is full of God’s glory! A true encounter with God’s holiness caused Isaiah to see his true nature and instead of inflating his ego, he saw himself as undone! And his eyes were opened to the fact that he has been living amongst people who had the same nature as himself – unclean lips. The fire from the altar purged him from his sin and his iniquity was removed.
