Why Jesus Needed to Go Through Samaria

The encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well is a fascinating account. It can be looked from many different perspectives as the details and symbolisms contained in the account are very distinct and carry many meanings. However, we will look at this account from a different angle. Why was it that Jesus had to go through Samaria and meet this woman? What drew Jesus to this woman? Jesus also displayed the human aspect of Himself, truly both the Son of God and the Son on Man. Jesus’ question sparked a series of conversations with the Samaritan woman. It was purposeful as Jesus wanted to show her true state and condition and by doing so, He was also showing her the way out of her current predicament. Jesus dealt with the hindrances within her and Jesus responded to her heart’s deepest longing. Truly, a wonderful account where many spiritual lessons can be drawn and learned.
