I Am Dark But Lovely

Within verses 5 and 6 of Song of Solomon 1 is hidden the mystery of Christ within us, the hope of glory. Not only are the words poetic but prophetic as well. We only gain a true understanding of our vile condition in His Presence. Yet it is in His Presence that we receive the revelation of the glorious beauty that has been deposited into every born-again children of God. We are but a dwelling place for God. When we receive this revelation, we will also receive understanding of the purpose of affliction in our lives. It leads us to the identification of the death of Christ which translates into the “death to self” in our lives experientially. The power of His resurrection life within us comes forth with our conformity unto the death of Christ. Armed with this revelation and understanding, we are positioned to live as overcomers. May we not neglect the upkeep of our inner spiritual lives at the expense of laboring after temporal pursuits which may appear to be spiritual on the surface.
