By cultivating our inner life spirituality does not mean we ignore what happens on the outside. From the teachings of Jesus, we are told that the external is the fruit of what happens internally. This is the reason, Jesus commanded His disciples to love one another as it is through this love that the world will know we are His disciples. There are lessons to be drawn from the account of the early church. The 120 that gathered to tarry in Jerusalem had the capacity to host a revival of 3000 newly converted souls! They were together in one. There are many things that we are to “un-learn” as we gather as believers. The church is not called to be a “consumer centre” but a family. If it is a “consumer centre” every one comes to get what they want and leave and it will become a gathering of selfish people which can become an ugly scene of people trampling on one another just to get what they want. The early church understood “koinonia” fellowship, had everything in common and were together – a picture of a family gathering. There is power in agreement when believers gather as a family. It is important to understand and receive a revelation of our identity as one who has been delivered from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His glorious light. By possessing our true identities, we live differently from the traits of the last days’ people described by Paul to Timothy.
