Blinded by the Culture of the Day

Given the seriousness of the statement made by Jesus in Matthew 7:21-23, we should take time to reflect on the reason why the “many” who went to Jesus, were all thinking that they were doing the right thing and they rightfully should be accepted by Jesus into Kingdom of Heaven. Could it be that because they were “blinded” in their souls and spirits? Should they have known their conditions, would they have lived their lives differently? Let us be vigilant in our walk so as not to fall into the same trap as this group of people, “many”. We can be blinded by the “Christian” culture of the day. When everyone is doing it, we would not be able to discern something is amiss. The danger is to be blind to the “lawlessness” in our midst. This may lead to the blatant disregard of sin or taking sin lightly. These things reveal the true condition of our hearts. Hidden motivations that are not addressed would blind us to the truth. This is the time and season for God to raise “plumbline” voices to once again stand and fight for the Biblical standard of truth and holiness. It is time for us, Christians to truly take time to know God and walk with Him. We can claim to know many things, i.e. spiritual gifts, leadership, anointing, ministry, spiritual warfare, counselling, etc. etc. but do we truly know God? Let these sobering thoughts be used by God as an arrow to pierce our hearts to produce true repentance, healing and deliverance in our lives to enable us to walk humbly before Him all the days of our lives.
