Five Kings Hidden in the Cave

Responding to the upward call of God is usually fraught with hindrances and obstacles. This biblical account provides a graphic image of how this is usually played out in our lives. Instead of external, physical and human “enemies”, this alliance of five “enemy” kings speaks of the strategies of the enemy to stop us from moving forward and upward. Each of the five kings seeks to twist, distort, rob and destroy the inheritance that is rightfully ours as we respond to this call from God. Such attacks come in different shapes and forms targeting our weak spots. The equally graphic manner of how Joshua put an end to these five kings is a semblance of what we should do to overcome these enemies of our souls. It is imperative to bring them to light and expose them by opening our hearts and confessing them before God. Another spiritual principle to be employed is to identify, to reckon, to see ourselves in the death and resurrection of Jesus. His death and resurrection is our sure guarantee of victory over every enemy that comes our way.
