There is a beautiful promise in Psalm 32:8 where God promised to guide us with His eye. Since the fall of man, not only has Adam and Eve tried to hide behind the tree, they have also inadvertently rejected the eye of God over their lives. There is a strong link between one’s eye and his/her heart. Similarly, when God guides us with His eye, He is leading us with His heart. Firstly, the account of Moses tells us God’s eye is attracted to the desire for Him and His purpose in our hearts. On the surface, it would appear that Gideon was a coward but his courage attracted God’s eye. The third account of Hagar and Ishmael revealed a facet of God’s heart to us that is ever so comforting. His eye sees beyond our weakness and failures. And the last example of Peter’s eyes meeting Jesus’ reveals God’s eye of love, without any trace of condemnation. Because Peter’s eyes met the loving eyes of Jesus on the night of his thrice betrayal against his Master, in Acts, he could ask the beggar to look at his eyes. In this world of darkness, condemnation, criticism, hatred, etc. how the world is longing to gaze at eyes who have seen the eye of God. Will you be the one?
